Golden fever in Western Africa

Gold has become the first export product of Burkina Faso before cotton. 99.9% of the 46 tonnes officially extracted come from industrial mines. About one million people work in craft mining sector but income are difficult to assess. This documentary happened in the mines of Djikando and Bolcholi, respectively located near Gaoua and Djikando, in the extreme south-west of the country. Djikando runs with an official operating authorisation held by Albert Oussé, a local tycoon. Bolcholi is a «wild» site occupied by eleven thousand gold panners.
